Registered in 2007 under the Societies Act, Cap 108 of the Laws of Kenya, MWAKA was established as the pioneer association of building, civil construction and mechanical and electrical engineering sector-related skills trade artisans and craftsmen, more popularly referred to as “fundis”.
Mafundi Wa Kenya Association (MWAKA) is a non-profit making organization sustained by individual membership subscriptions, its programs and through corporate sponsorships and partnerships.

MWAKA advocates for policies and regulations that have a positive bearing on the livelihoods of our members, and artisans and craftsmen in general in the construction and engineering skill trades.
Occupational Safety and Health
MWAKA prioritizes the well-being and safety of our members in their work environments, ensuring they receive training on OSHS and working with partners to ensure compliance.
Training & Career Development
MWAKA equips artisans and craftsmen with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in their respective fields and secure gainful employment opportunities locally and internationally.
Industry Linkages
MWAKA builds strategic relationships and collaborations with other organizations and players in the industry to extract mutual benefit for both our members and the organizations we partner with.
Our Programs.
Brand Ambassadors Program
Innovators, manufacturers and suppliers of building and construction materials, products & technology can partner with us to penetrate and/or expand their market in Kenya by offering specialized product knowledge training to our members through our Brand Ambassadors Program.
Employment & Mobility Program
Working with various stakeholders both locally and internationally, this program targets both job-creation and improved employability for the Association’s members anchored on the principles of skill, competence, quality workmanship and productivity.
Education & Skills Development Programs
This platform engages the Association and its members with industry stakeholders and the wider business community through various education, and skills training forums. The themes are diverse but relevant to the Association’s core pillars to maintain engagement.
